Email Frequently Asked Questions:

Recommended changes for *all users* to ensure your email settings are optimized:

  1. Check your Spam folder via our new Webmail (mail.cwo.com) or IMAP folders for blocked valid senders and use the “Allow Senders” feature to whitelist these senders.
  2. Change your outgoing email to send via mail.cwo.com using SMTP Auth (Authenticated sending) on port 587 instead of Port 25.  Instructions are located here: Setup STMP Authentication.
  3. Change all email settings that involve a username (e.g. joe), change to your full email address (e.g joe@cwo.com).

Q. Where are my old emails and address book?

A. If you were using the old Web-Based Email to store your emails and address book, send us an email to support@cwo.com with the email address for which you would like us to retrieve the information, and we will move that information to the new server.

Q. What are the sending limits for the new server?

A. You can send to 150 recipients every five minutes. If you go above that limit, you will be blocked from sending for six hours.

Q. How can I tell if an email is actually coming from CWO?

A. First, we will never ask you to confirm your account by replying to an email with your password or other confidential information. Beyond that, there are two ways to confirm that the email is from us.

The first is "[CWO.COM]" will be in the subject line:
CWO Subject Line

The second is that we will have our phone number and address in our signature at the bottom of the email:
CWO Signature

Q. Why am I getting more spam in my inbox since you upgraded to the new server?

A. The new server uses different filtering technologies.  For most users they should see a dramatic decrease in spam. For the few that see more, try using the unsubscribe links at the bottom of the advertising emails. This should be very effective in removing you from advertising emails that are most likely considered to be from valid mass email senders. For any emails that get through into your inbox, please forward them to spam@cwo.com as attachments so we can continue to improve the effectiveness of the email filtering.

Q. I seem to be missing emails, especially things like newsletters. What should I do?

A. First, check your spam folder via either of the new webmail clients (Webmail Lite or Tuxedo) at https://mail.cwo.com. Then, click on the spam folder on the left and view the blocked emails. Also, please forward any email you feel shouldn’t have been blocked to notspam@cwo.com.

For Webmail Lite:
Open an email that you want to unblock and click on the “Allow Sender” button on the right side near the top.

For Tuxedo:
Click on an email you want to unblock and click on the “Allow Sender” button on the right side near the top.

Q. Can I see my spam folder without having to login to the Webmail?

A. Yes, you can. You will need to setup your email address in your email program (Outlook, Thunderbird, Mac Mail, etc.) as an IMAP account. You will then have the Spam folder located within the email program. For directions on setting up IMAP, click here: Setup IMAP Email.

Q. Is there a way I can turn off or lower the Anti-Spam protection?

A. You can turn off or lower the Anti-Spam protection by logging into the Webmail and click on Spam Settings (Tuxedo) or AntiSpam Settings (Webmail Lite) on the left side.

For Tuxedo:

For Webmail Lite:

From there, you can either disable the Spam Protection completely by clicking here:
