We recommend printing out these instructions before continuing with this procedure. The easiest way to setup your Mac OS 8.xx system is to fill out the "Internet Setup Assistant"
. The early OS 8.0 calls it a "Wizard" found on your Computer's Hard Disk in the "Assistants" folder. When you find the folder, open it up and double click on the Setup Assistant.First find the Internet Setup Assistant! It is located on your hard disk drive in a folder entitled "Assistants" Open the "Assistants" folder, then open Internet Setup Assistant.
Answer YES
to the first two screens re: Internet Account and setting up your computer to use the Internet.
#1 Introduction. Read and continue forward.
#2 Type in your DOMAIN NAME and select your modem.
Note: Your domain name should be something like "cwo.com", "goldstate.net", or "squawvalley.net". If you are unsure of your domain name, please call technical support during regular business hours.
#3 Check to be sure your modem and port designation are correct. If not, your must install your modem inside the ControlPanels. Select "TONE" and continue forward.
#4 Enter your Dial-in PHONE NUMBER.
Enter your USER NAME / MAILBOX NAME
Enter your PASSWORD
Note: The Dial-in Phone Number
is the toll free number your computer will dial to connect to us. If you are unsure which number to use please call technical support during regular business hours
Note: The User name and Password were chosen by you when you started you account. If you do not know your User name and/or Password please call technical support during regular business hours.
#5 Answer "NO", to using PPP connect scripts
#6 Answer "NO" to IP address
#7 Enter the DNS numbers as instructed
Enter your DOMAIN NAME (e.g. "cwo.com", "squawvalley.net")
#8 Enter your E-MAIL ADDRESS and PASSWORD.
Ignore quoting character.
#9 Enter the word "mail" followed by your DOMAIN NAME, in lower case, twice.
#10 Enter NEWS SERVER NAME (should be "news.cwo.com")
#11 Answer "NO" regarding proxy servers.
#12 Congratulations, you are finished!Click either "connect", "cancel" or "go ahead" to finish.
