The home page should not be encumbered with big graphics or other
features that take a long time to load.
Users should be able to meet their needs without the graphics
being loaded.
All graphics should have "ALT" labels, so that people who aren't
displaying graphics can see what it is.
Graphics used for purely decorative purposes (logos, etc.) should
be small.
If big graphics are deemed necessary or desirable, they should be
placed on optional pages, so that the user makes a conscious choice
whether to undergo the download process (and the waiting period).
For example, screen captures or a marketing-type presentation with
pretty graphics.
